Apple Picking!

Oct 26, 2025

After an attempt at watching Sopranos episode 1, and a subsequent late-for-me-early-for-them bedtime, we woke up early to be bright at early to the apple picking farm. We stopped by a very cute coffee shop first for sustenance where I got a few cute snips of them while we waiting. There were a bunch of super cool tarot cards available for closer inspection but, as lovely as they were, I chose to NOT TOUCH just in case any additional energy felt like clinging to me that day.

We hit the road after that. The soundtrack? Our shared spotify playlist. It was fun to listen and sing along, although we were both skeptical about some of the songs attributed to us. Unfortunately, I think that was a result of spotify trying its hardest to find something in common between our taste. They have very cool incredible indie music taste from a bunch of different genres (I think) and even different countries and languages. I keep it maybe a little more consistent with the language at least! Lots of music in Spanish. Anyways, I sung along to the songs I knew, while they would occasionally lip sync theirs. Or maybe they were singing? Just incredibly quietly?

We arrived at the farm after a short 1.5 hour drive, and soon began wandering around the orchard. All of the apples were available for picking--no part of the orchard was off limits! I got mostly my favorite: granny smith. Apart from an excercise in lifting, twisting, and spotting apples, it was also an excercise in self-control: If the trees had more robust and trunkier, I would have definitely pulled my lover in for some long, sweet, apple-tasting kisses.

When we had filled up our apple bags, we made our way to the store where I tried the caramel apples which tasted a lot like peanut butter to me. Actually, I'm now realizing that they were in fact coated in peanuts. And they got apple cider donuts while I chatted with the attendant (a mexican!). Our date ended with a pit stop at Dunkin' and a calm ride back, where I tried and succeded not falling asleep. It was a lovely date, but maybe next time I'll allot more time so we can bake our apple goodies together!
